On December 23, a large group of LVYP Kiwanians and guests visited their sponsored house of St. Francis at St. Jude’s Ranch. This event was in the planning since late October and was highly anticipated by the members. The evening began with the preparation of an amazing meal which included salami & cheddar, homemade salsa, 7-layer dip, salad, ham, turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, rosemary potatoes, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, and rolls. Everyone was treated to mini pies, cookies, and red velvet cake for dessert. St. Francis had just five children in the house for the event, but the Kiwanians made every effort to make it a memorable Christmas. The surprise guest for the evening was the one and only Santa Claus, who brought gifts for the kids and, naturally, knew what the kids were up to through the year. The night ended with the opening of gifts provided by some of the LVYP Kiwanis members and a whole lot of holiday cheer. On a cold winter night, attendees walked away with a little warmth in their hearts from providing a special Christmas celebration for the kids. There were already talks of repeating the event next year.
