You can owe it to my parents for teaching me to always have a giving heart!
I joined Key Club when I was in high school. We needed chaperones back then like high school Key Clubs still do now. My parents were there to watch us go crazy with cheers as well as to see us grow with workshops. I am still forever grateful as I was back then as I am now! Their involvement was very much a key part to my future with Kiwanis.
It’s funny and nostalgic seeing them at a Key Club event today! My cousin Chad decided to volunteer my parents’ famous BBQ to fundraise at the Relay for Life West. And as upset as his parents were for the action, as usual, my parents were happy to help! So if you see in the picture below, my dad is with my cousin and uncle, rolling with the good times at the event!
Now back to the point of this article – seeing my cousins at events like these and the memories/experiences I had when I was a member of Key Club are reasons why I am a member of Las Vegas Young Professionals Kiwanis now! As a member, I’ve helped cook dinners for families, assisted the homeless, advised the youth to help the community and more!
So if you are interested in the field of helping future generations, serving our community, or just volunteering while having fun, I would love to welcome you at one of our upcoming meetings! You’ll get to meet others like me, giving their time to good causes! Meetings are every first Tuesday at 6:30 PM at the First Person Care Clinic and every third Saturday at 3:00 PM at the Ronald McDonald House. Come check us out!
